Foundation II Class

Foundation 2 is very much an extension of Foundation 1 and continues to build a solid foundation in our four basic skill sets.

Training Skills
You'll work on becoming very comfortable AND consistent with positive, reward-based training techniques.

Handling Skills
You'll also work on building a dog/handler team that's increasingly comfortable and controlled while working off-lead in the training facility's low-distraction environment.

Obstacle Skills
Learning to safely, accurately, and willingly navigate agility obstacles requires time and practice for the dog; patience and guidance from the handler. Foundation 2 provides that practice time for your dog...and equally important, works on developing your support skills.

Sequence Skills
As in Foundation 1, you'll put your training, handling, and obstacle skills to work running off-lead sequences. Unlike Foundation 1, you'll deal with increasing distraction levels that will proof your ability to manage your dog off-lead...and your dog's ability to respond to your directions.

The Class
Six consecutive Thursday nights, 7:45-8:45. Next sessions will be scheduled soon.

Fees
$95 ($90 for Cape Cod Kennel Club members). We offer a one-time $5 discount if you adopted your dog from a shelter or rescue group. Refunds are given if the class is full or under-subscribed, otherwise, fees are non-refundable.

Prerequisites
Foundation 1 or permission of Trainer. Dogs must be up-to-date on their rabies shots. Foundation 2 steps up the intensity of the training and the physical demands on your dog. If you have any concerns about your dog's physical condition, please check with your vet before you enroll.

Registration
Class size is limited and pre-class registration is required. Send a completed Registration Form, a copy of your dog's rabies vaccination record, and a check for the training fee to the contact on the registration form. If claiming the one-time $5 rescue discount, enclose proof of adoption.

The First Class
DO bring your dog, LOTS of small, soft treats and/or your dog's agility toy, and your clicker. DO reduce the amount of food you feed your dog for dinner.
